Gifted Weaving – Ngā whetū o Te Po

✨ Endless gratitude to Chris from Te Whare Pora o Whangaroa who gifted Kauri Lodge with a beautiful weaving called Ngā whetū o Te Po, or Stars of the Night. It represents the star Pōhutukawa the eldest child of Matariki and the star that is connected to those who have deceased.
🙏 When Matariki rises in the New Year, we honour the memories of all the people who have passed, and their spirits are released to become stars. What a fitting gift for our residents at Kauri Lodge Rest Home, who are surrounded by wairua.
💜 Mavis spoke about how she was filled with aroha and blessed to receive this gift on behalf of all our whanau. Thank you to all those who came along to this small, loving ceremony. This gift will be treasured for many years by all of our whanau, and future friends who come to reside here.
