DIY household cleaners
It was an inspirational and fun workshop learning how to make our own chemical free household cleaners. Anouk shared her passion and vast knowledge about chemical free living, and we were all able to ask lots of questions and share our experiences and recipes.
It’s amazing what you can make with white vinegar, baking soda, some essential oils and other ingredients. I have not used any shop-bought cleaners for years (and my house is clean. Well- most of the time….!) and not only does it feel good to not use nasty chemicals, but it also saves on packaging, especially when you buy your base ingredients from the bulk food stores.
So, what did we make? We made our own washing powder and cleaning paste (substitute for Jif), a beautiful lemony cleaning spray and liquid hand-wash. We also went away with recipes, hints and tips on how to clean your oven, your windows, how to clean your floors and how to make fragrant dust cloths. It’s all pretty simple and makes you feel so much better.
After enjoying each other’s company, sharing a very yummy lemon cake (thank you so much, Lorraine!) and a cuppa, we all went away feeling inspired and empowered to ditch the chemical cleaners and start making our own sprays and pastes. Go on! You can do it, too.
Now we are thinking about running a workshop on make your own balms and moisturizers and a workshop on making soap. Watch the space….
